Christian Thun-Hohenstein

Christian has 30+ yrs of experience advising technology and media clients across Europe as well as global technology investors, private equity and sovereign wealth funds. He is currently Senior Advisor to Citic CLSA in Europe, having previously been Chairman of Advisory at DealGlobe Ltd. In his Investment Banking career, Christian has worked at Nomura, Haitong Securities, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse First Boston and Prudential Bache Capital Funding. His most recent senior positions included Head of Investment Banking at Haitong Securities UK, Head of Investment Banking EMEA at Nomura and a variety of senior positions at Deutsche Bank which included Head of TMT Investment Banking, Head of German Investment Banking, and Global Co-Head of Media Investment Banking.

Christian has participated as a primary banker in some of Germany’s most important landmark transactions, including the largest ever M&A transaction to date, the $220 billion acquisition of Mannesmann by Vodafone, all three Deutsche Telekom privatizations, the sale of Bertelsmann’s 50% stake in AOL Europe back to AOL Time Warner for $7.0 billion, the €1.2 billion IPO of Lycos Europe, and the acquisition by Japan’s TDK of EPCOS for €1.0 billion.

Christian holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BSFS from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He is a member of The Order of Malta and a member of the International Development Board of Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS).
